A II. világháborúban megszámlálhatatlan olyan küldetést hajtottak végre különleges- és kevésbé különleges egységek, amelyek csak hatalmas – előre kalkulált – emberáldozatok árán voltak végrehajthatók. Sőt, egyes akciók esetén kifejezetten 100 %-os veszteséggel számoltak a parancsnokok.
A Nors Hydro ellen tervezett meglepetésszerű támadás, vagy a Duce szöktetése, melyet Skorzeny hajtott végre maroknyi, elszánt csapatával, vagy a dühödt hajsza a Bismark hadihajó után mind-mind szinte a lehetetlenség határát súroló öngyilkos haditettek voltak.
De ma már inkább történelem, a bátorság, bajtársiasság és az önfeláldozás torokszorító története…
